As part of the European Capital of Culture Esch2022 and the future National Centre for Industrial Culture (Centre national de la culture industrielle-CNCI), the non-profit association Industriekultur-CNCI asbl has submitted its project MinettREMIX which has been selected by Esch2022 and will therefore be included in the programme for this flagship year.
The objectives of the MinettREMIX project are to arouse curiosity about the diversity of the Minett region, to raise awareness and interest in the historical and current importance of industrial culture, to highlight and bring together actors active in this field in the southern municipalities, and to establish the “Centre national de la culture industrielle” as a sustainable cooperation network.
The main component of the project is a central exhibition that brings together various teaser elements under one roof. As a central reception portal, the exhibition will give a sneak preview and guide interested audiences to various initiatives in the region and to partner sites in the CNCI network. The public will be able to discover different aspects of the MinettREMIX theme, such as social life, architecture, ecology and nature, art, migration and immigration, all as part of a single journey.
The exhibition will be held on the site of the former steel factory in Dudelange, more specifically inside and outside the former central workshop (“Hall Fondouq”) and the steelworks (“Stolwierkshal”) and will take place during the summer period from May to October 2022. (Opening hours: Wednesday‒Sunday, 2pm‒8pm with guided tours available on request). Additional activities such as workshops, conferences or artistic interventions will be organised throughout 2022 on the same site, as well as on other iconic sites of the CNCI network partners.
