This project is primarily aimed at students at the higher conservatories wishing to perfect their skills in the art of improvisation. The Stahlhuth organ in the church at Dudelange, with its rich palette of sounds, is perfect for this art form, which is an act of spontaneous creation and explores a multitude of sound combinations. In three days of master-classes given by renowned masters of the art, student-participants are actively invited to discover and use this sound palette through improvisations in the romantic-symphonic and contemporary style. For participants wanting to improve their skills in baroque or classical improvisation, lessons will be given on the Westenfelder organ in the Église Saint-Michel in Luxembourg City. To encourage exchanges of ideas, the academy will be offering group lessons during which each student-participant will have the opportunity to perform. A special session will also be offered to advanced students in the organ class of Dudelange’s regional music school. The courses are also open to student-listeners wishing to gain inspiration from the art practised by the student-participants and the advice given by the tutors. A closing concert will be given by the best student-participants (selected by the tutors), during which the audience will be invited to vote for a “Prix du Public”.
